Whilst I have not seen the film yet, the criticisms you label at the film appear to be because it follows the book closely. For example in the book, the 2 characters do not meet until the end, also Paulo the boxer exists in the book, and so on. I, like many other fans of the trilogy, will I'm sure want to see the film because it DOES follow the book, and will not be judging it purely as a film in isolation. If as you seem to suggest the film does closely follow the book, then I for one am pleased, I'd much rather that than a film where the director puts his "own spin" on the story.
