There are many more restaurants in Poole, so I'd give this one a miss, if I were you. Although the garden is nice and the restauraunt inside is decorated quite nicely, the food leaves a lot to be desired. My husband had the Surf & Turf and at best he said it was OK. I, unfortunately, had the fish and chips which could almost have been cooked from frozen! (although the manager said it was fresh fish) It was horrible! The fish was dry and chewy?! Needless to say I couldn't eat it. The chips were edible but not what you'd expect from a hotel restaurant.
I asked the manager if he'd like some honest feedback and he said he would, but as soon as I told him about my meal he went on the defensive and said that he'd served 50 portions of fish that day and no-one else had complained.
I have two suggestions:
1. The manager needs to learn a little customer service. Regardless of whether it is 10 or only 1 person that complains, you don't imply that the customer is wrong in their criticism just because someone else hasn't complained. Bad move. I probably wouldn't have written this if he'd dealt with me properly and with respect as a customer that was paying good money to eat in his restaurant!
2. If, as the manager said, the fish was indeed fresh, change the supplier because you are being sold poor quality fish.
Anyway, you live and learn and I will certainly not be going back to this restaurant again.
