Roar On The Shore

Roar On The Shore

When

9.30pm, 20th August 2009

Where

Between the Piers

Practice your oohing and ahhing for the world-record attempt firework display. At Bournemouth Air Festival pyrotechnicians will attempt to fire 110,000 fireworks in under 60 seconds. The Roar On The Shore event will set Bournemouth's skies alight in a breath-taking display.

Awesome Views
You'll be able to view the world record attempt from just about anywhere along the south coast, but for the best viewing, and to soak up the atmosphere of the Roar On The Shore, head towards the piers. The fireworks will be launched from a barge moored between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers. Entertainment will be taking place at the Lower Gardens from 6pm as part of the Bournemouth Air Festival and there'll be a firework display before the world record attempt launch.

Help The Heroes
It will be a fantastic sight, but the Roar On The Shore will also be helping to raise money for charity. Organisers hope to raise around £90,000 for Help For Heroes, the armed forces national charity. They're raising this money through sponsorship of the 110,000 fireworks that will be launched on the night. While most of the money will come through corporate sponsorship, you too can help raise funds.

Individual Sponsors
To help raise money for the Roar On The Shore you can sponsor a firework for just £1. You can either text, make a donation in selected Bournemouth businesses, donate online or simply travel to the event by bus as Wilts and Dorset, more bus and The Airport Shuttle are all sponsoring the event.

Record Breakers
You may think that somewhere like Australia, the US, or Japan holds the current firework world record, but no. It's Plymouth. Fantastic Fireworks, who are creating Bournemouth's record breaking display, were also responsible for Plymouth's world record. But it shouldn't be too difficult to beat Plymouth out of the Guinness Book of World Records. The record stands at 56,645, measly compared to the 110,000 explosions that will go off in Bournemouth.

The world record attempt will take place in Bournemouth at 9.30pm, 20th August 2009. To sponsor a firework, click on the link below.
