We ate at the Blue Fig two Christmases ago, shortly after it opened for the first time offering a modern English cuisine. The food was fantastic and it was great to have a menu that would have competed well with Beechleas Restaurant had it have still been open. We assumed that the restaurant had changed management but had retained the name, when a new Indian menu was delivered to our door a couple of months ago.

Our initial thought was, not another takeaway, but we decided to give it a try, it seemed promising, offereing some different dishes to its competitors. It was simply delicious. We ordered the Dall Makhni and Poneer Butter Mossala (both vegetarian dishes) and both were wonderful.

Neither of us are vegetarians, but these were so light, fresh and comfortably filling that neither regretted not having orderd a meat alternative. In fact the meals were so good that we telephoned the Blue Fig to thank them, something we've never felt inclined to do before. We're eating in the restaurant this weekend, and hope it will be just as good.
