The ViewBournemouth Review
A Winton cafe that’s not a greasy spoon, but instead a healthy sandwich shop with a vibrant freshness that is much needed in this area.
The Venue
The Rhapsody cafe has a sleek yet alternative look about it, making the decor something unique on run of the mill Wimborne Road. Bright blue wood panelling and crisp white walls is a refreshing colour choice, and the contrast with the sleek black lacquered tables adds some edge.
A few posters are scattered around the walls and the outside passers-by feel part of the cafe with large windows to make people-watching pleasingly easy.
The counter at the back of the room shows off the fresh wraps on offer, and the colour and freshness of the ingredients make your mouth water.
Tables are of different heights giving customers the chance to get cosy and comfy with low leather seats or chic and sophisticated with super high tables and stools.
The People
This place is for those who don’t always want full English breakfasts and boring sandwiches, but instead want food with a fresh and healthy theme. Still, they aren’t posh or snobby, but casual and laidback, enjoying a light lunch no matter what their age.
Everyone from middle-aged mums chatting over a coffee to health-conscious youth feels comfortable here, and the classy smooth music that plays over the sound system makes everyone feel mellow and relaxed.
The Food
The choice of fresh wraps and sandwiches is very good, with the classic favourites done with a twist and a hint of a global influence to add some excitement to an otherwise dull dish.
For around £2.70, you can get tasty combinations such as Chicken Mexicana (chicken breast, salsa, cheese and salads) or pepper, hummus and onion for a simple veggie option.
They can be served hot or cold, and taste crisp and delicious. The sweet treats are also great, with dinky bites like rich brownies or shortcakes that crumble in your mouth for £1.50.
There are also various freshly baked cakes, such as they’re super creamy New York cheesecake, which is a lovely indulgent treat.
The Drink
The hot beverages here are cheap but well made, with a rich aroma and a deep taste for under £2 for a regular, which is a decent mug size. There are also soft drinks available and freshly squeezed fruit juices.
The Last Word
For a tasty lunch without the calories in a bright and cheery decor, Rhapsody is a great stop off.
