Being local and having eaten at West Beach on numerous occasions. We thought we would splash out with a takeaway whilst watching the night airshow and firework display on Saturday 31st August 2013. We paid £6.00 per portion of fish and chips... £18.00 for 3, for that we expected as West Beach boasts of its fresh locally caught fish...a nice piece of fresh fish and well cooked chips. We were extremely dissapointed and horrified when we were served with what only can be described as similar to "Tesco Value battered fish slices" which was undercooked as it raw in the middle and over cooked chips.

We won't be eating from the take away again!!

Visited West Beach last Thursday for dinner with high expectations. The location (on the beach) was exceptional, as was the glorious weather. Unfortunately this was a very disappointing experience. Despite the restaurant being empty they couldn't find our reservation on the computer so we were told to have a drink by the bar. The same waiter who had fumbled with our initial reception then went on to bungle our drinks order!! Eventually we were seated in a prime window spot and were happy. This didn't last. I can honestly say the nicest thing about the meal was the bread and olive oil which we were given at the start. The scallops were overcooked, the mackerel was burnt as was the tapenade on the tomatoes and the new potatoes were dull and flavourless. My friends steak was rare when he'd requested medium, poorly presented with towers of raw peeled tomatoes which they must have a glut of. His chips were as hard as breeze blocks, saturated in oil which tasted of fish and inedible. The bill was also incorrect but by then we'd have overpaid just to leave. The staff were glum faced, unwelcoming and seemed to be inexperienced. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night, but we won't be going back to find out.

WestBeach is very annoying. I have eaten there once and it was ok. On several other occasions I have asked for a table and they always say 'have you booked?' Prior to revelling in telling you that there are no tables anyway with a nasty tone of voice. It is all so rude! I wouldn't go there again for anything. I have been to the Ivy when it is fully booked and the courtesy shown is excellent so why not here?

Disappointed

This restaurant could be nice but I think it is over rated. It is just a take away standard restaurant totally over priced.

We visited only once and would never come back there!

It was very cold inside without any air conditioning. They just placed few electric heaters in the corners. Some people had to wear jackets.
The chairs are more like beach chairs. Not comfortable at all
The staff is slow and useless. They forgot that we ordered fresh bread but still they included it on the bill! The waiter wasn’t even sorry.
The roof was leaking!
We went out still hungry. Small portions but very expensive.
The door to the toilet doesn’t close so it was smelly.

Don’t go there!

My friends and I dined at WestBeach last week, and it made me question why I havent been back for so long. This is a beautiful venue, one of a kind with sea views, whilst being warm and cosy too. Watching the surfers, eating the most amazing scallops from the specials board, which were cooked to perfection, melt in the mouth stuff!!

This restaurant seems to have come on leaps and bounds since the last time I came. They seem to have new management, new head chef in their open plan kitchen while retaining some of their best staff.

Defiantly worth a trip to the seaside for! AAA star!
